Common questions about our verification service
Here are clear answers to the questions people ask us most about booking, payment and your appointment. Looking for the rules behind the forms instead? Then our ID1, ID2 and ID5 guides cover those in detail. You can also see how ID1 form verification online works from start to finish.
How do I book?
How much does it cost?
A fixed price of £79 for ID1 or ID2, which includes your ID5 video verification in the same appointment. Overseas customers are £99. Either way, the price you see is the price you pay, with nothing added later. See our
pricing page for the full breakdown, or our guide to
what an ID1 form costs for how that compares with high street solicitors.
How does the video call work?
First, you book a time. Then a solicitor meets you on a short, secure video call, checks your ID, and completes your form. It usually takes about 15 minutes.
How long does it take?
The call takes around 15 minutes, and your signed forms are usually sent to you the same day.
What documents do I need?
Normally a valid passport or driving licence, plus a recent proof of address. Your solicitor will tell you exactly what to bring when you book. However, if you do not have a passport or licence, our guide to
what ID documents you need covers the alternatives that HM Land Registry accepts.
What is Credas, and do I need to use it?
Before your appointment, we will send you a secure link to upload your ID documents through Credas, our identity verification partner. It only takes a few minutes and can be done from your phone or computer. This is an extra security step, not a replacement for your appointment — you will still attend your video call with your solicitor as scheduled.
Can I get verified if I live abroad?
What happens after my ID is checked?
You receive your completed, signed and stamped forms. Then you send them to HM Land Registry with your application. However, if HM Land Registry queries or returns your form, our guide to a
rejected or requisitioned ID1 explains what to do next.
Is my information safe?
Your ID documents are handled by your solicitor through their secure system, not stored by us. As a result, we only take the details needed to help you book.
Are you a law firm?
No. We are a booking service. Instead, the verification is carried out by an independent, SRA-regulated solicitor — you can
check the SRA register yourself at any time.
Who can sign my ID1 form?
Only a practising conveyancer, such as a solicitor, licensed conveyancer or notary public. Doctors, police officers and Post Office staff cannot sign it. Our guide on
who can sign an ID1 form has the full list.
Questions about the forms themselves
These guides go into far more detail than a short answer can, so start with whichever one matches your question.
